About Visit Croydon

Croydon’s True Blue Visitor Information Centre and Croydon Shire Council region offer an authentic Outback welcome in the heart of Queensland’s Savannah Way, making them the perfect starting point for your golden country adventure. Open Monday to Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:45 pm and Friday to Sunday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, the centre’s long trading hours give travellers plenty of time to call in, plan their stay and get local advice.

True Blue Visitor Centre

Located on Samwell Street in the centre of town, the True Blue Visitor Information Centre is staffed by friendly locals who know the region inside out and can help you shape an itinerary to suit your interests, timeframe and driving route. Inside, you will find maps, touring information, museum-style heritage displays and insights into Croydon’s gold rush past, plus tips on where to eat, stay and explore nearby natural attractions.

With extended opening hours during the week and consistent service across the weekend, the centre is designed to be a convenient first stop, whether you’re arriving early with a coffee in hand or rolling in later in the afternoon. Travellers can also contact the team by phone or email for up-to-date road conditions, event details and recommendations tailored to caravanners, families and self-drive adventurers.

Croydon Shire region

Beyond the centre doors, Croydon Shire unfolds as a heritage-rich Outback region where century-old buildings, a beautifully preserved historic precinct and story-filled streetscapes showcase the town’s former life as a booming goldfields hub. The shire’s compact size and welcoming community of fewer than 300 residents make it easy to slow down, park the car and wander between museums, landmarks and character-filled country pubs.

Out of town, Lake Belmore and red-dirt tracks offer opportunities for fishing, birdwatching, walking and cycling, creating a classic Outback blend of wide open landscapes and big skies. Whether you are following the Savannah Way or looking for a destination in its own right, Croydon Shire and the True Blue Visitor Information Centre combine small-town charm, generous opening hours and expert local knowledge to help you get the most out of every moment in Queensland’s Far North West.
