Established in 1979 and set across 65 acres of natural bushland, Trowunna offers visitors a rare opportunity to connect with wildlife in a peaceful, authentic setting while directly supporting vital conservation work through admission and donations. Home of the Tasmanian Devil Trowunna is widely recognised as one of the best places in Tasmania to see Tasmanian Devils up close. Since 1985, the sanctuary has been home to the world’s largest heritage population of these endangered animals. Visitors can also encounter wombats, quolls, kangaroos, wallabies, birdlife and reptiles, all living within carefully managed natural habitats. Conservation at the Heart of Everything We Do Conservation, education and animal care are central to Trowunna’s mission. Located at the meeting point of alpine, forest and coastal environments, the sanctuary provides a vital refuge for resident, transient and migratory wildlife. As a privately owned sanctuary, Trowunna relies on visitor admissions and generous donations to continue protecting wildlife and maintaining its naturally occurring habitats.
