With a queen bed, linen provided, kitchenette essentials and a private fire pit to enjoy sunset views over the station, it’s a welcoming base in wildflower and star-gazing season. Vera Van, a refurbished 1970 Viscount caravan nestled among the mulga trees, adds a touch of vintage charm, complete with twin beds, solar-powered fridge, outdoor BBQ and camp chairs for relaxed evenings by the campfire.​

Those travelling light can opt for simple Shearers Quarters rooms, offering basic shelter and access to hot showers and the well-equipped campground cookhouse for an affordable station experience. Unpowered campsites are also available, giving campers the freedom of open spaces with the comfort of shared facilities including toilets, showers and a communal cookhouse with fridge, gas stove BBQ, crockery and cookware.​

Future glamping-style bell tents will soon add another way to enjoy Melangata’s wide-open landscapes, with comfortable bedding and access to the same shared amenities and cookhouse. Guests can also, when availability allows, book a homestead dining experience and share a hearty station-style meal with their hosts, getting a deeper sense of life on this historic property.
